Automating release processes

Try to automate as much of a release process as you can, as the more automation in place, the more control you have over the release process. Manual steps tend to be error prone and can lead to unexpected outcomes. Any changes that occur in a production environment need to be locked down properly, meaning changes are done via automated processes.
