Manual environment setup

The manual setup of infrastructure can be problematic for several reasons:

  • A manually set up server instance may be configured to suit a single operations person. This operations person may be gone from an organization, leaving core infrastructure broken.
  • Fixing a manually set up environment may take a long time, and fixing issues in such an environment is not reproducible and repeatable, for that matter.
  • Manually setup environments may not be capable of being copied for testing purposes.
