This chapter provides an overview of personality psychology as it applies to business practices. It begins with the definition of personality, a topic that is often discussed but seldom defined; the lack of agreed-on definitions is responsible for considerable unnecessary confusion. It then examines the kinds of personality assessments available to be used by business, evaluates the pragmatics of personality assessment, reviews the inevitable criticisms of personality assessment, and speculates on future directions for personality assessment.
