Energy harvesters for powering wireless systems*

Abstract:

This chapter focuses on the strategies and devices used to convert the energy present in the environment into electricity to supply wireless and mobile systems. The ‘energy harvesting’ discipline is proving to be the first relevant response to the need for power supply without wire connections and batteries. Many transduction principles were investigated, and a number of design solutions were described in the literature.
