INTRODUCTION: THE PROFESSION AND THE DISCIPLINE

This introduction is about the progression of human resource development (HRD) from a field of practice to its current status as a profession and a discipline. Because I have “lived” this progression since 1970, this will be a very personal view of how this field has developed.
