Introduction

The Correlations theme includes areas of society that have some significant connection with energy. It begins with sections deal-ing with the economics of energy, such as the pricing of oil and other commodities, and with activities in the energy business, such as the establishment of important energy companies. These are followed by sections on energy-related organizations, such as OPEC or the United Mine Workers, and on influential energy policies of governments and other public bodies, such as taxes and environmental laws. Correlations concludes with a section about ways in which energy has related to social change, and an-other about changing public attitudes toward energy use.
