15.5.1. Main contaminants

Although H2 and CO are the major components in syngas, there are other components present in the gaseous stream whose distribution depends on the process conditions and the technology used. In the case of gasification, these components can be divided into three groups (Huber et al., 2006; Hannula, 2009; Liu et al., 2009; Bridgwater, 2003; Xu et al., 2010; Yung et al., 2009; Tijmensen et al., 2002; Abu El-Rub et al., 2004; Babu, 2002; Boerrigter et al., 2003; Torres et al., 2007):
