With the introduction of Windows Vista, Microsoft made significant changes to the wireless networking model through the design of the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) 6.0 model and the native Wi-Fi interface, replacing the rigid and feature-poor Windows XP wireless interface. Windows Vista clients enjoy new flexibility in the wireless stack, enabling new applications, security models, and greater access to wireless services than were previously possible.
