Unless you've been living in a cave, you've likely noticed the trend toward notification-based data delivery. Even now, you can go to Web sites and subscribe to weather notifications, traffic reports, sports scores, and a host of other notification-based data. Once subscribed, the data can “follow” you around—being simultaneously pushed to you via e-mail, pager messages, cell phone text messages, instance messaging, and so on. These types of apps are taking over the world and are a major focus of Microsoft's .NET initiative.
