I've included a chapter on introductory XML in this book for four reasons. First, I wanted to update the coverage of XML from my last book, The Guru's Guide to SQL Server Stored Procedures, XML, and HTML (Boston, MA: Addison-Wesley, 2002), and felt this was a good time to do that. The language has evolved since I first wrote that book, and I've wanted to update what I said about XML for some time.
Second, I believe that the pervasiveness and ubiquity of XML justifies its acceptance as a core technology. ...
