Summary

In this chapter we explored a number of undocumented SQL Server features, including undocumented stored procedures, trace flags, DBCC command verbs, and functions. Use these at your own risk. They aren't documented for a reason—chiefly, because Microsoft doesn't want you to use them. If you decide to use them anyway, do so with care and with the expectation that they will likely change in a future version of SQL Server. Also, don't expect any support from Microsoft. From the vendor's perspective, that's the whole idea of not documenting something: You don't have to support it and you can change it as you please.
