Summary

In this chapter you learned about version control software and the virtues of using it to manage Transact-SQL source code. Hopefully, you've come to the realization that T-SQL is “real” code and needs to be managed just like any other type of source code. We discussed several techniques for maximizing the usefulness of source code management software with Transact-SQL, and you were introduced to a couple new utilities that aid with using SQL Server and VSS together. Good programmers have good habits. Now is a good time to get into the habit of managing your source code—regardless of the originating tool or the programming language—with a version control system.
