10.3. Group Policy Preference Extensions Concepts

The Group Policy Preference Extensions look "different" than the rest of the Group Policy universe. That's because they are different. They were born at Desktop Standard and integrated into Microsoft technology.

And there are a lot of holdovers, which can be a little confusing.

Those confusing (but powerful) elements we'll cover here are as follows:

  • The idea that they aren't really policies but rather preferences. (Don't worry, we'll get to this bit of confusion right away.)

  • The multicolored and dashed lines that are in the interface.
