3.4. Final Thoughts

In this chapter you learned what the GPMC 2.0 can do. Again, these features are only available if one of the following is true:

  • You're editing and managing your GPOs from a Windows Server 2008 management station

  • You're editing and managing your GPOs from a management station that is Windows Vista + SP1 + newly downloadable GPMC 2.0, which is part of the RSAT tools.

There's one more big thing the updated GPMC brings to the table that bears mentioning. That is that the new Group Policy Preference Extensions are built into Windows Server 2008 (and will also be available as a download for Windows XP and Windows Vista clients—more on this in Chapter 10).
