TJ and Michelle Howley were a couple of twenty-nine-year-olds expecting for the first time—twins, actually—when Michelle found herself in the hospital. We’ll let them pick up the story from here (what you’re reading is an online posting):1

On Wednesday August 30 Michelle’s water broke. We immediately went to Portsmouth Hospital where they gave Michelle meds to hold off the contractions. After being transported by ambulance to Mass General in Boston, we heard all the grim news we already knew.

It was only 22 weeks and 3 days at that point. Babies are considered viable at 24 weeks. We were advised to induce labor at that point to avoid any potential risks ...
