Dean G. Duffy received his bachelor of science in geophysics from Case Institute of Technology (Cleveland, Ohio) and his doctorate of science in meteorology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts). He served in the United States Air Force from September 1975 to December 1979 as a numerical weather prediction officer.
