Verbs

Explanation

Verbsare words, or groups of words, that illustrate an action or the effects of an action, indicate position, or describe a state of being. In addition, according to their tense, they indicate when an action occurred. Examples of verbs: running, typed, think, and be.

Verbs are also called predicates, and are considered the core of a sentence. They tell the reader what is happening by asserting something about the subject. Verbs are the only part of speech that can stand alone as a complete sentence.
