Motivate Your Truck in and Truck Out Dolly Moves
All shots, whether static or moving, should be motivated, but this holds additionally true for dolly shots that either push into a set or pull out of it. Usually the motion of an object or a character is ample motivation to truck in. The camera will seek out more detail and more information as it explores a deeper area of the set or an enlarged section of the visible area of interest. This pushing in and exploring is a natural move and replicates what a human might do in order to see more detail—get closer to the item of concern.
