Groovy is a dynamic language for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Of all the JVM languages, Groovy has the best integration with Java and probably the lowest barrier to entry for Java developers. Java is considered by many to be in the “C family” of languages; that is to say that its syntax borrows heavily from the C language. Other languages in this family are C++, C#, and, by its close relationship to Java, Groovy. Without getting into a debate on whether that syntax family is a good one, we can say it is one that millions of developers are familiar with. That means that millions of developers can quickly pick up Groovy!
