In this chapter, we describe a Monte Carlo algorithm for the simulation of x-ray transport and show how this algorithm can be efficiently implemented in a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). The main application of our new simulation code is the evaluation of medical radiographic imaging systems. Example simulations of projection imaging and compute tomography (CT) using a realistic voxel-based human anatomy model are presented.
