Overseeing Strategy and Risk Management
Moving from the areas that need board attention, here we look more deeply into some of those core areas of a board's oversight responsibility where it can and should add significant value to the company and its shareholders. In this chapter, we address the board's role in strategy development and risk management; in Chapter 12 we discuss CEO compensation, succession planning, and crisis management; and then in Chapter 13 we deal with measuring performance for both internal and external reporting purposes.
