It’s because authors put us in the scene so we’re there. They reenact conversations so we care.
This is the opposite of INFObesity, defined by Macmillan Dictionary as “the condition of continually consuming large amounts of information, especially when this has a negative effect on a person’s well-being and ability to concentrate.”
