Chapter 26. Searching Google Images

Among Google’s many specialized searches, perhaps the most popular is Google Image Search, also known as Google Images. This is a subset of Google’s basic web search that lets you search for photos, drawings, logos, and other graphics files on the Web. It’s perhaps the best way I know to find pictures online.

The fact that Google can find pictures that match your search criteria is something short of amazing. After all, pictures aren’t like web pages; pictures don’t have any text that Google can parse and index. Instead, Google analyzes the file extension, image caption, text on the host web page adjacent to the image, and other factors to try and determine what the image is a picture of.
