The Bottom Line

OpenSocial is an initiative to help develop gadgets or web-based applications for many of the Internet’s most popular social networking sites—Facebook excluded. If you’re an application developer, OpenSocial lets you develop one gadget and easily port it to all the other sites that support the OpenSocial platform. It’s a far sight better than developing separate apps for each site—which should save both time and money.
