The Bottom Line

Google Presentations is a great idea, and a long-overdue addition to the Google Docs suite. It’s particularly well-suited for giving presentations on the road; you no longer have to worry about carrying big PowerPoint files with you (and getting them installed on whatever computer the host facility provides!).

That said, Google Presentations doesn’t yet offer all the functionality you get from Microsoft PowerPoint. For example, Google Presentations doesn’t offer slide-to-slide transitions or the ability to create charts and tables. Although Google continues to add functionality over time, if you need these particular features, you’ll have to stick with Microsoft PowerPoint for the time being.
