The Bottom Line

Google Docs is a worthy competitor to Microsoft Word. It’s not quite as fully featured, but it includes most features used by most users. It’s great for creating everyday documents, and I really like the fact that your documents are accessible from wherever you are, via the Web. This lets you edit your work documents from home or the road, with no file copying necessary.

Should you use Google Docs? Maybe. It’s certainly an option for the frugal computer user (it’s free versus several hundred dollars for Microsoft Office), as well as the traveling user and the frequent collaborator. It’s worth checking out to see if it does the job for you.
