8. Getting Notifications
Certain apps can push notifications to you even when you’re not actively using those apps. The Nexus 7 provides a central list, called the notification shade, of all the apps that are trying to get your attention. You can get notifications for incoming mail and messages, calendar events, alarms, ongoing or completed downloads, system and app updates, and more. The Nexus’s built-in apps, as well as third-party apps, can send notifications.
