Web Services: Updating Maps On the Fly
In the examples of this book so far, the data are embedded in the script so that you can experiment with the sample applications without having to develop server side components or publish your data on a web server. You’ve built some highly interactive applications using the Google Maps API as stand-alone pages, but no dynamic applications that request data from a remote server on demand. Typical map-driven applications request data from remote servers as needed and process the data at the client. Such data include hotels near a convention center, airports in a specific country, or any feature of interest in the current viewport.
