Google+ connections are different from friends on Facebook. Instead, you have People in your circles. Think of Circles as the groups of people you know. These groups are based on the different categories of social bonds — for example, three of the default Circles are Friends, Family, and Acquaintances. You can add and edit Circles to match the relationships you have in the world.
