Goals and Goal Setting
Goals Must Be Written!
Writing goals down in black and white results in more explicit statements of
intent. Daydreaming about your goals does not help you reach them. Writing
your goals down strengthens your commitment.
Look at these written goals.
➤ Increase productivity in our division 5% by August 15, without
adding any personnel
➤ Gain five new customers and increase gross sales to $20,000 by
July 1 within an expense budget of $1,000
➤ Expand market share to 5% by December 31, without increasing
advertising expense beyond current levels
➤ Secure two clients by June 30 that will produce $30,000 income
and require only 30% of my time to service
➤ Retire from work and relocate to a warm-climate location
You might think the first and last statements have some fuzzy elements to them.
