Overview of the VOTE Program
This chapter discusses the knowledge used by VOTE: issues, stances, groups, relationships, bills, members, and strategies. We present examples of the VOTE program, demonstrating the decision-making task, strategies, and explanations. We also discuss certain types of knowledge not present in VOTE.
The VOTE program serves as a demonstration of the computational feasibility of our model of decision making. The task of the program is to simulate the roll call voting behavior of selected members of the United States House of Representatives.
