Installing the Gmail Offline App

Gmail is a web-based email service, which means you need to be connected to the Internet to send and receive email messages. It is possible, however, to read and compose messages without being connected to the Internet, thanks to the Gmail Offline app. This app lets you download Gmail messages to your computer and then synchronize any work you do offline with your online account.

To work with Gmail when you’re not connected, you must install the Gmail Offline app. This app is free but works exclusively with Google’s Chrome web browser. (You can’t use Gmail offline with Internet Explorer or Firefox.) ...
