What Is Gmail?

Gmail is a free web-based email service from Google, the company that dominates online search. Gmail is one of Google’s many online services, and is linked to those services; you use a single Google account to access all of Google’s services, including Gmail.

As with any email service, you use Gmail to send and receive electronic mail (email) over the Internet. You access Gmail from any web browser, from any computer with an Internet connection. You can also access Gmail from mobile devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.
