We describe globalization as a phenomenon that embodies transformation, manifests complexity, and necessitates learning, in order to establish the importance of change and learning in today’s environment. We present South Asia as a region where complexity and transformation are apparent; and highlight its growing influence in the global economy, as well as the many challenges that hinder its socioeconomic development.
