In considering the needs of educational improvement and expansion to make quality education accessible for all levels, this study examines the contribution of the private sector in the realm of equity. For a variety of reasons, the private sector is increasingly entering the sphere of free, public education in India and we need to theorize its role to reconsider established assumptions on the provision of educational access.
