Foreword

This book asks something of you beyond learning, beyond understanding of a few new methods, beyond cultural sensitivity. Read seriously, for it challenges you to move your center of attention outside yourself, to see and hear without your familiar and very comfortable lenses, filters, and judgments. It asks you to be open to the possibility that some of your deep underlying assumptions—those things you assume to be universally true—might not hold true for everyone in every place.
