This chapter lists the major exchanges of the world along with their associated central clearing counterparties and central securities depositories. Practical tips about trading, settlement, and custody in certain regions are also provided. Last, so-called “passenger markets” are explained. Passenger markets are found in many countries and, as the case study in this chapter highlights, can pose problems for the unwary if accounts in those countries are not established correctly.
