Afterword

As an investment professional, you are no doubt aware that information is knowledge, and that knowledge can be power. Fortunately, as you have discovered, you hold in your hands one of the most informative, comprehensive, and valuable guides to the complex and interconnected world of global securities markets.

Increasingly, however, information alone is not enough to enable financial services professionals to gain the understanding necessary to take effective action and to do what is right for their clients or their firms. What is needed is context, and the ability to turn ideas into action. And it is here that my colleague George (Tres) Arnett provides us all with perhaps his most valuable contribution to the library of understanding surrounding the global securities market. In page after page, and chapter after chapter, his depth of understanding and ability to see how the pieces work together take the reader beyond simple facts to true comprehension.
