Summary

In this chapter, you learned how to retrieve data, either all the data in a table or just some of it. You also learned how to filter the data so that you only get the parts you're looking for, by sorting, summarizing, grouping, and manipulating your retrieved data, and by using operators to retrieve rows more selectively.

With this, and the previous two chapters, we are now familiar with the basic SQL database Create, Read, Update, and Delete (CRUD) operations that will be part of nearly all of our interactions in MariaDB.

In Chapter 8, Maintaining MariaDB, you will learn how to keep your database running smoothly.
