One of the key things that cloud computing in general has brought to the industry is the elastic capacity of being able to allocate additional resources as it becomes necessary, and again shrink that capacity when it is no longer needed. There are a couple of points to understand how this works for Redshift. In general, this is a powerful and inexpensive tool to have at your disposal.
