This book is built around Photoshop/Photoshop Elements. Photoshop is almost 20 years old now, so there are a lot of versions of it out there. Raw support, though, was not introduced until Photoshop 7, when the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in was introduced. With Photoshop CS, the next revision of the program, Camera Raw was rolled tightly into the program.

Although Camera Raw is a plug-in to Photoshop, you can think of it as an entirely self-contained environment that sits inside of Photoshop. In fact, you might find that you can do almost all of the editing you need to do within Camera Raw and will only need to proceed to the rest of Photoshop for extreme editing needs.
