Well, we’ve come a long way so far, but there are a few things you have to know before you can progress any further. The first one of these is masking.

Masking

Masking is one of the most powerful and useful features and ZBrush and is something you must master to fully utilize the program. A mask provides a means of protecting selected parts of the model from being painted or sculpted upon. There are a number of functions that will generate masks for you or allow you to paint your own masks by hand.
