The best steps for getting ahead in your social media career:

  1. Figure out what you want.

    When you’re figuring out what you want, list specific accomplishments that you have to make in order — even if you don’t know how to accomplish what you're going after.

  2. Tell the right people.

    Let the key decision makers in your organization know your intentions. More responsibility comes directly from your efforts and your superiors.
