Dealing with the Family
This chapter divides into two: dealing with the family we're born into (a more psychological than practical pursuit for many adults); and dealing with the family we create (very much a practical quest in terms of generating efficiency enhancing harmony).
Of course, we start with the family we're born into because that's what world-renowned family therapist Virginia Satir calls the ‘factory’ where people are made. The personality that emerges in our ‘family of origin’, she states, can stay with us our entire lives.
According to Satir, we're hardwired at this point, especially with respect to the roles we develop within our original family; roles that remain vital when considering our immediate reactions to trigger-situations. ...
