PLUS

PLUS is a stock exchange based in London, and is used by companies that do not want to pay the costs of a flotation on one of the markets run by the LSE (this can range from £100,000 to £1m, even for AIM). Companies quoted on PLUS provide a service to their shareholders, allowing them to buy and sell shares at reasonable cost. It also allows the company to gain access to capital, for example, by selling more shares to investors, without submitting to the rigour and expense of a quotation on LSE.

Note that the criteria for companies gaining admission for a quote do not include compliance with the strict rules set down by the regulator, the UK Listing Authority (see Chapter 14), so investors have far fewer quality assurances about these companies. ...
