While your preferences can change with circumstances and time, your values tend to stay pretty constant. A particular activity that is a good use of time now might be less preferred in five or ten years’ time or even in a couple of weeks. The activities and people you devote time to in the present might lose their importance at a later time point. Activities, interests and relationships can taper off to make way for others to flourish in their place. This is a very natural cycle that allows us to match our changing preferences and needs – and remain productive.
