9.1Site Investigation Requirements of Building Codes

The requirements for a site investigation program as part of a construction project are often guided by the stipulations of the building code provisions of the local jurisdiction. Some building codes have detailed provisions for site investigation that must be met in order for the project to be approved.

Most building codes stipulate that a geotechnical investigation be conducted as part of a building design.
