The need for education of nurses in genetics was expressed more than 25 years ago. Genetic services and education have been made available in the curricula of health professionals including nurses. Efforts have been made to develop a team of nursing faculty who are well prepared in genetics. These efforts are expected to substantially improve the capability of nurses to contribute more effectively in the delivery of genetic services.
