5.4 Examples of GNLME models

In this section, several examples are given illustrating how one can fit data to a GNLME model using either the NLMIXED procedure for ML estimation or the %NLINMIX macro for PL estimation. We also illustrate how one can use either NLMIXED or GLIMMIX to estimate parameters via augmented CGEE2/PELS. In our first example, we revisit the orange tree data of Chapter 4 (§4.5.2). Our purpose here is to demonstrate how the macro %COVPARMS can be used to quickly decide on a random-effects structure for this data.
