Acknowledgments

I want to thank the numerous people who have influenced me, contributed directly to this book through conversations or editing, or otherwise made this book possible.

First and foremost is my wife, Angela Bull Radoff, who I met in an online game and has truly made my life an adventure. Angela helped steadfastly, looking at each of my chapters before anyone else—and contributed many of the great ideas that made it into this book.

The team at Disruptor Beam was invaluable with both conversations and actual edits to the manuscript. In particular, Tim Crosby, Athena Z Peters, and Jason Callina deserve special mention. Maria Picasso is a splendid artist who we’re fortunate to have on our team, and created the designs for several of the icons used in the book, as well as the “History of Social Games” chart that originally appeared in my blog, and now in this book. Melissa Kelt also assisted with several of the technical illustrations.

Likewise, I want to thank the many business partners at Disruptor Beam who have made it possible for us to create the games: Doug Levin of Ayeah Games; Tug Yourgrau of Powderhouse; Pat Croce of Pirate Soul (who was also kind enough to share a Foreword); Jonathan Strause of I-Race; Jim Jonsin; Sam Rogatinsky; Trapper Markelz of MeYouHealth (who was also my right-hand at GamerDNA, where he helped me assemble and lead an incredible team of social media developers); and Peter Blacklow and the whole team at GSN Digital.
